How much for a wedding cake?

I’m often asked this question. There are so many factors to consider before I can give an accurate quotation:

How many guests are you hoping to have cake for?

Do you have a design or theme in mind?

What is your budget? Then your cake can be designed and kept on track within your budget.

Are all cake makers the same?

No not at all, there are a wide variety of abilities and options out there. Experience is very important, look at photos and written recommendations on websites and Facebook to gain confidence. (Although be cautious, anyone can open a Facebook page and bingo they are a cake maker!)

Important factors to consider are:

Firstly, food hygiene rating (5* star rating is the best)

The cakes need to look amazing and taste amazing too, another consideration is how well do the cakes cut, if the slices are too sticky or messy, they will not present well when served. Ask venues and caterers for recommendations. Cake samples can help to confirm any questions.

Wedding Cake consultation, it’s important to see your cake maker, to be able to feel confident that they are capable of producing your dream cake, ask questions. At Centrepiece Cake Designs I sketch out a design and mock up the cake, so you have a visual idea of your cake and afterwards send out a quotation.

Are you happy with your cakes being made in a family kitchen or would you prefer a designated cake studio?

Allergies to certain foods are an important factor. At Centrepiece Cake Designs all wedding cakes have an Allergen Sheet left at the venue, listing all the cake ingredients, highlighting the allergens too. So, if any guest needs to know, it’s available, as required by the Food Standards Agency.

Do you have a written contract of your wedding cake details? This important so you and your cake maker have all the details confirmed and clear.

Delivery and set up? Is this an extra cost? Do you want the worry and stress of setting up a wedding cake? Centrepiece Cake Designs includes this in the price.

You could be booking your wedding cake in with someone a year or two in advance. Questions to consider are how long have they been in business? Is it just their hobby, do you feel confident they will not let you down?

Mostly your cake maker should be excited to make your cake, if they love their work it reflects in the finished design.

As always you get what you pay for. Wedding cakes takes hours and hours of skilled work, usually a week’s work to produce, consider this when budgeting your cake money.

Celebration Cakes

All Celebration cake types i.e. Birthday, Anniversary, Christening and Novelty cakes are priced on application dependant on requirements. Prices range from £70.00 upwards.

Two tier Celebration cakes start from £105.00 and Novelty start at £100.00.

Wedding cakes

Priced by the quantity of work involved and the amount of materials required. Please view the web site looking for the type of wedding cake you require. We will be delighted to advise on cake price.

All prices will be accompanied by a written quote prior to any work being undertaken with a signed agreement from the customer.

Additional charges may be required for the hire of cake stands and knives.

  Single tier cakes from £130.00

Single tier cakes can be designed to incorporate your wedding theme. Ideal for smaller weddings, but still made to the highest of standards.

 

  Two tiers from £200.00

Offering a choice of two different cake flavours and enabling a higher level of decorative detailing which could include handmade iced flowers, bunting or anything you can think of.

 

Naked Style Wedding Cakes from £175.00

Naked Style wedding cakes start from as little as £175.00 for a two tiered cake and £250.00 for a three tiered cake. Price includes arranging the flowers, (supplied by your florist) onsite and I will supply all the fruits and berries. You can also have different flavours for each tier so making it a favourite for all weddings.
